  • Sorry, this really bothered me the first time I played the game, but it slipped my mind on subsequent play throughs, and i've just realised that no one on here seems to be discussing it, so....just how in the fuck did she get out of there?

In my opinion this is probably the worst part of Dead Space 3's writing - it's just fucking cheap. Kill off one of your main, and fan-favourite, characters, only to have them show up right at the end, revealing they never died in the first place, is a boring cliche at the best of times - but to not even EXPLAIN how they survived their blatant, inescapable death, that's just bad, really, really bad, and lazy to boot. I mean, they don't even attempt to explain it, just reveal that she's alive and hope that you won't notice and ask too many questions.

Also, as well as that, the moment Isaac finds out she's still alive, the radio clicks on and HE says first "Ellie, you're alive!" - how the hell did he know she was alive? He can't see her. As far as he's knows that's Danik radio-ing him to taunt him some more. It's like that entire section of the game was unfinished, like there was going to be other stuff going on but they just didn't have time to do it.

Now, In my opinion, THIS is a valid area for DLC - a side-story expansion pack, in the style of Severed for Dead Space 2, where we play as Ellie from the moment she's trapped in the Rosetta lab, showing how she got out, and the events that lead her to the top of the Alien Machine at the end. This may just be my desire to play as Ellie manifesting itself, but either way, in my opinion it's a no-brainer. It would also be the first playable female character in the entire trilogy, something I think Dead Space is lacking in.

    • Oh, and before anyone accuses me of spoilers - I don't personally think this counts, since the actual in-game events I'm alluding to are even more annoying than the actual spoiler, at least this way you'll be prepared for the lazy/bad writing when it smacks you in the face...

    • man, Dead Space 3 is a waste of money. they should have explain why ellie survived, but no, she magicaly survive the incident. that remind me of Stross in DS2, how come he can survive the necromorphs with only a stick as a weapon.

    • Well,She did say she escaped through one of the Rosetta Slab tubes or something like that. How she managed to get to it without getting turned to ash,I have no clue.

        Loading editor
    • how about Stross, explaination pls. I barely made it out of that mine, how come he make it with his only weapon is a needle.

    • Like Dr.Mercer,It could be because stross is more batshit crazy than Isaac or Ellie.Which would also explain the headbanger, the one chick who shot herself in the head and the crazed "Surgeon" lady in the first game.It could be that the Marker knows these people are gonna kill themselves anyway so why go through all the trouble Or it could be that Stross was being smart and was hiding from the necromorphs unlike everyone else who was foolish enough to think they could outrun a pack of slasher.Either way there's atleast some logical explanation.Unlike 67% of Anything in Dead Space 3

you right. The Marker used Stross to kill Isaac. unfortunately for Stross, who was so confident that he lost his head because of a single strike from Isaac.

p/s: Stross is not that smart, facing an armed man with only a needle, seriously?

    • At least the Stross thing is TECHNICALY possible, if only down to pure luck - there is no rational way Ellie could've got out of that room alive, I don't care how lucky she could've been. It's bullshit.

Dead Space 3's story is incredibly formulaic and cliche'd, seriously I've seen its story a thousand times in other games and movies - a gang of characters, slowly picked off one by one throughout until only 2 or 3 remain, the love interest dies, fueling the protagonists rage, only for them to have miraculessly survive and show up at the end, the "noble ancient alien race" that started something that could defeat the antagonists, but didn't have time to finish it, but they conveniently left instructions for someone in the future - the protagonists - to finish it off, saving the day for everyone. The love interest being with a complete dick head, who just happens to be in charge of the group, and hates the protagonist...then he betrays the protagonist to the antagonists for promises of freedom for himself and the others, only for the antagonists to go back on the deal...it's all so fucking generic.

Part of what I loved about the Dead Space franchise was how original and unique it was - yes they used a few cliche's in 1 and 2, but they utilised them in a way not usually done (sneaking past the soldiers and opening the doors to the building, letting in hordes of monsters as a means to defeat the human enemy, is often done in films, but I'd never seen it done in a game before, where YOU have to actually do it.) But with 3, it's like they just couldn't be bothered and took some generic sci-fi horror movie script and inserted Dead Space characters and places...

    • Lol, 67%? I agree, but why the specific number? :P

        Loading editor
    • Well,95% would've been too high and 50% would've been too low.So i just picked a number in between at random.

I wouldn't mind the cliche plot if they atleast tried being creative with it.For example:Instead of having Isaac and Norton fight, have Isaac accept the fact that Ellie has moved on,but have Norton constantly believe that Isaac and the rest of the cast are against him (Under the marker's influence) and the further you go with the story the more insane Norton becomes.Would've made the dialogue aswell as a few scenes between the two alot more interesting than 5+ Chapters of "Ellie thinks my dick is bigger than yours".

    • this game has started to become just like resident evil and silent hill series. I was disappointed when Resident Evil and Silent Hill lost their horror root.  and now Dead Space becoming bullshit. Survivor Horror are no longer have a place to stand in modern gaming.

    • I accepted that Ellie probably used a delivery tunnel to escape, but I just want to know how she got to one. When she was saying goodbye to Isaac, She was standing on the Rosetta table, and the tunnels were on the walls, and the gas was around every direction. We could say she just got to one at a part of the gas cloud which cleared a bit, but she would have had some nasty burns that way.

That's why she didn't have her snow suit on by the time they met up again.  She probably used her suit as a shield against the fire, which in turn burned the suit up, but she was spared the burns herself.

    • why do they have to sexualize her, DS2's Ellie look like a mid-40 woman, in DS3's she looked like a young woman.

        Loading editor
    • What? Ellie in DS2 looked no more than early 30's.

    • first thing first you play as a female character in one of the chapters in dead space extraction second thing stross tried to kill isaac with screwdriver not a needle third thing ellie escaped the gas room through the delivery system for the rosetta peices

        Loading editor
    • also the delivery system was right above rosetta incased you didnt notice she could have just pulled herself up and she probably took off her coat when she was taken inside daniks ship becuase of the heating she would have sweat to death if she didn't

        Loading editor
    • Dammit! I Should have thought of that. Thanks for reminding me.

    • In the cut-scene where Issac and John Carver have to shut the door and Ellie can't make it across she is on top of the sorting machine with "Rosetta" underneath. To the right of her and just a little above is the main slab chute. Ellie probably panicked at first thinking she was screwed but then noticed the chute and climbed up it. It is hard to hear but when Ellie talks to Issac near the end of the game revealing she is alive, she mentions climbing up the chute before the Unitologists caught her.

Well, its been proven that Necro's are less likely to attack Marker-Made crazies. This is probably because even though they haven't been "Made Whole", they are still being influenced by the Marker and its visions. The chute is rather close to her and with a little will power it would be pretty easy to escape. Hope that helped.

    • Well.. There's alien artifacts turning everyone to monsters under the name of "evolving" and there's something called shock drive so they can travel long distances in space and also ceiling-crawling monsters without even caring artificial gravity and also there's artificial gravity with stasis and telekinesis..

My point is you're all okay with all of these and that's the problem?

You must be a special kind of moron then.

Just enjoy the fucking game and stop insulting a lot of people's work. That game passed by thousands of eyes before it's released and you think they made a huge mistake like that?

Ugh.. If you don't like the game go play some other "nice" games but I love this game and I'm not gonna let anyone say "DS3 is waste of money"

It is a different universe with a lot of people's dreams and if you don't like it you don't have to play it.

Unless.. you enjoy the time you played more than 2 hours (that's the steam refund time) then why the hell you're trying to insult your own time?

Also ellie explains she got out using the steam pipes. If you don't like this explanation then make up another one for yourself or tell the devs hire you because you can make better scenarios than they did.

But wait.. you didn't make any scenarios right? So you have no clue how to make one & that's how you can criticize it so easily.

I'm a programmer, producer & kind of scenario writer myself and I admire this game.

      So you see the paradox?

Of course you're upset because you have no clue what you're talking about.

Have a nice day. Obviously you didn't have any of these.

You are literally retarded. There is a very strong and obvious difference between the existance of fictional things in fictional worlds, and huge, glaring plot holes.

You sound like an angry ex-Dead Space dev who's mad that the series got canned.
