playstationfeed has some "super awesome" news regarding Dead Space 2 for us.

don't say i never do anything for you! :)

DisMEMBAH 18:26, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Well, upon watching the highly talked about first look at Dead Space 2... I can't help but notice a few things.

1. Holy crap you can fly.

2. Holy CRAP. You can FLY.

3. Hang on a centrifuge turnin' moment.....flying? hmm...

Yes's here....change.

But the question remains...what kind of change is it? I have NO DOUBT that "iron manning"( well, despite the fact that you could totally hear Isaac freaking out in the air) Dead Space will have its totally awesome moments( you remember the first time you went zero gee in DS, don't lie) just like in its predecessor. but in moderation.

Will it be the BAD kind of change? Do I need to pull out the example of Resident Evil 5? Not a bad game by any means...but that game was changed A LOT. thus, it's reviews suffered. I can't think of how many people on RE forums say that "If THey madez it betterz like RE4 it woold be c00ler lulzXD"

In any case, I think the best thing to do here is to just place our trust, and severed limbs, in the hands of EA. I know they wouln't introduce radically different ideas and gameplay mechanics and subsequentially screw up the game I know and love. Would they do that to their own brainchild? *flinches in chair hoping an EA developer dosen't send a lurker to my house to kill me*

I think not.

what do you guys think? feel free to throw a laser pick in my thoughts here.

Good change? Bad change? I don't care. As long as I still get to blast a Slasher's arm off then impale his own skull with it. EA be praised?

...shifty eyes...

I'll keep my faith in Dead Space and EA, even if the flying sucks, Ill be happy if we never have to set foot in a asteroid defense turret again. (CrackShot 03:15, July 27, 2010 (UTC))

Sprawl in Dead Space 2?Edit

Where is the source for 'The Sprawl' comment?Gorvar 02:40, December 9, 2009 (UTC) //NEW// High res game informer scans

Because the page is locked for some reason could somebody with access ad this to the article? Read thisSkalgar 1:00, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

There's not much revealed in the article other than new control settings which supposedly will change the player's gameplay experience, new monsters, new weapons, new locations... oh... and new RIGs. So, there's no point to update the article... well, other than the fact that Dead Space 2 takes place 3 years after the events of Dead Space (Note: This is the only important info. The others are just insignificant).--Lol@Phailure 02:06, December 11, 2009 (UTC)

Dead Space 2 hey if the Red Marker and the hive mind were killed by Issac. how can the story contineos? Is there a 3th Marker made by the same guys ? or is just a necromorph in the shutle of dead space extraction? in the end of the extraction they seed that they were going to the Sprawl. Please commente

PS: My Inglish may be bad because i am from Portugal.

My guess is the Necromorphs either go beserk and kill everything in sight when their Hivemind is gone, or come together to create a new one. The reason for this infection is unknown, but i guess some Space Zombies were in the escape pods and were to far from the red marker, thus becoming feral.Gorvar 23:58, December 13, 2009 (UTC)

The Marker from the first Dead Space was labelled as Marker 3B (this was mentioned in the text logs). We could assume there's another Marker of similar title (possibly Marker 3A or 3C) is onboard the Spawrl and that the Unitologist tried to transport it back to their Church for worship.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 00:07, December 14, 2009 (UTC)

Dead space 3 Edit

I think the DEAD SPACE games are akin the ALIEN films. DS2 is like what James Cameron's 'Aliens' is to Ridley Scott's 'Alien'. Apart from the fact the games are like a mix of The Thing and Event Horizon. Maybe the third game could go back to grittier basics, ripping from David Fincher's 'Alien 3', set it on a planet full of convicts, conflicted by disallusions of unitology, include another mysterious marker hidden somewhere and a stranded protagonist, and youve got yourself another top game. (Comments welcome.) By hambagHambag 18:22, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

hey i may have found thr prof of dead space 3 in a text log in dead space! "One rumor that also refuses to die says the Church is funding a secret shipbuilding program. Some claim to have seen the fleet. No documentary evidence has ever been supplied, but the claimants all say these "mausoleum ships", despite their huge size" probablie dead space 3 story will be in a unitologist ship!—This unsigned comment was made by Adriano Tomás Portugal (talkcontribs). Uh... no. That was probably left for users' imagination/interpretation. Typical literary methods.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 19:21, December 22, 2009 (UTC)

i still bilevi that but there is only 2 ways to found out the first is obvias the other think on that

And Isaac's dad was a ship designer. Maybe he was involved with the Unitology ships :) 03:43, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

there actually is a large possbility that there will be a Dead Space 3 based on the ending spoilers will be revealed as i edit more but not on here and it is currently believed that game is already in development and has been for a while now. of course dead space 2 sales are a actor but based on reviews the game sees to be doing PRETTY well. having said that it is believed that this will be the last dead space game rouding offthe series as a trilogy that revolutionized what is the first thing people think of when you hear the word "dismemberment" Also based on what the ending says this will either meen that the game will be one of the largest and most time consuming ever with detail in every (SOMEWHAT SPOILERS !!!!!) site OR could be a series of mini adventures to each site with the overall goal coming into focus later on.

I think that making Dead Space into a trilogy with Isaac dealing with the Black Marker on the thrid game would be great, it just wouldn't be dead space if it had a happy ending so I doubt that he'll ever destroy all the markers

MultiPlayer? Edit

Is there information or news about it? It sounds interesting—This unsigned comment was made by (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Well, based on the new podcast, it seems like it is not your typical deathmatch but more of a Survival Mode series like L4D2.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 14:44, December 29, 2009 (UTC)

oh amn i can´t wait to play dead space 2 online it´s gona be so cool xD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and if you die and infected by an infector you can play has a slasher !!!!!!!(or more =)

Steve Papoutsis has said at the E3 Live demo that multiplayer is confirmed in dead space 2. All he's said is: "Can't say too much on that now...again, I'd be going to "spoliertown", and I don't want to go there. But all I will say is......there will be Multiplayer in Dead Space 2... and you will get to dismember your friends." Mypictr 25x25DisMEMBAH (talk)(blog) 14:35, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Nicole Coming Back? Edit

I read on Wikipedia that Isaac in Dead Space 2 will use the Marker to bring back Nicole from beyond the grave? Is this true?

Never Trust Wikipedia, anyone can edit it. Nicole will make a reappearance (Spoiler) but apparently she can kill Isaac even though she is dead. (revealed at Comic on Dead Space 2 panel. (CrackShot 14:15, July 29, 2010 (UTC))

The Devil's Tail Edit

I don't really know what part this Devil's Tail thing could play in DS2, it could just be another Peng for all I know. But what I do know is that the development crew had some sort of party/celebration (read: a lot of alcohol) with signs and shirts realated to this Devil's Tail business. I think that this calls for some serious group discussion/thought, just from a cursory glance it seems like it could be something with a bit of importance.

My idea about what The Devil's Tail might be: I think it's a book, "The Devil's Tail" sounds like a good title for a book, right? And the marker on the front (in red) could be the Red Marker. Now here's where it get's difficult, is it an anti-Unitology story about how the markers bring death and destruction written by one of the survivors of the Ishimura events (or maybe Newman found his way off of the colony). Or is it telling of the mishaps of CEC or somebody in their failure to bring the marker back to Earth (as in some sort of Unitology cover up to help rally support).

Well, unless it was called Dead Space Party it could be Dantes Inferno related.-General Q-Nek

It's the Black marker, some people named it the Devil's Tail. You can read it in Dead Space: Martyr. - Furio Sirion

At the end of the trailer, symbols appear for a split second, i just translated it and it says REBORN AS ONE 614, that mean anything?

Awwwww.crap. It got taken down. I'll have to do some looking around i guess.

I dunno about that, but that is the coolest *blam!*ing thing I have ever seen, albeit disturbing. Hang in there Isaac! DisMEMBAH/MattPosivy 15:40, May 10, 2010 (UTC)
I think that rectangle with a dark figure might be one of Mercer's frozen Necromorphs, the Marker symbol hopefully means we will see the (Presumably) Badarse Black Marker, and well the chromosomal strands, those might be part of Isaac's new hallucinations caused by the BM, and the egg well like some said, the Hive mind could have pulled an Alien Queen and slapped a few spores or seeds to isaac's shuttle, and a large, remote area with lots of biomass and persons to transform is the perfect place for a new hive mind to grow. We dont know how long it took for the first hive mind to grow to maturity, but if its rate is anything like the Wall organic stuff, three years should be plenty of time for a new one to grow. Cthulhu F'tagn 00:54, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Well folks,it's here. The latest Dead Space 2 gameplay has arrived. Mind if I pop the video up on the article? or is it already up somewhere else?

here's the vid. Looks INCREDIBLE:

The Video has been what? (CrackShot 04:37, August 8, 2010 (UTC))

I translated it and here's what I got: in the top left hand corner in black it says "my heart and hope to die" probably was intended to say cross my heart and hope to die, the writing in blue underneath it says "if only they knew what I can't unknow", in black next to that it says "life to death to life eternal" likely reffering to unitologly beliefs, in red underneath it is written "stick a needle in my eye" and "the darkess is crushing me" I'm not sure why the n is left out in the word darkness.

I spent a good two or so hours studying the E3 Demo, and it looks REALLY good. There are lots of new changes, but I think they still managed to keep the Dead Space feel. One of the things I really thought was cool(apart form the whole freakin' trailer) was when Isaac was hacking the gravity panel to get that zero-g generator going? Oh yes. I can feel the minigames. Dead Space Extraction Characters in DS2? Edit

It is cited numerous times around the site that Lexine, Nathan and Gabe are in Dead Space 2 but I haven't seen a single source to back this up. Someone should provide evidence to state this otherwise it needs to stop being said as it is purely speculative. Rac Ward

Plot Hole? Edit

In the last three chapters of DS1 they made such a big deal out of the Hive Mind controlling the Necromorphs. I now wonder how do these things come back in DS2 if the Hive Mine was killed? Are they selfaware or is there some Hive Mind-offspring we don't know about? I mean the Hive Mind contolled their every action, even what they transformed into. Somebody, please give me a reasonable answer! -X-T- 17:28, October 1, 2010 (UTC)

I'm guessing that the Hive Mind only has a limited range so as the infection spreads more Hive Minds are created. This would explain all the large Necromorphs: Leviathan, Spider, Slug and Urchin, as they were all early stages of new Hive Minds. Even though they were all disposed of, there was still enough Corruption and bodies on the Ishimura for another one to form. This could mean part of DS2 takes place on the Ishimura so you can kill it. As for Necromorph intelligence, I'm guessing they have basic animal-like instinct. -- Reignfire 21:29, October 1, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, given the nature of the Necromorphs, I don't think there ever exists a Hive Mind at any one time; generally, with eusocial creatures, the greater the number of "Leaders", the greater the degree of disarray. Indeed, if I were to guess, I would say the more likely scenario is that when the Hive Mind dies, it triggers the growth of a new Hive Mind in another location. This would explain the why the Marker only makes the Hive Mind go dormant rather then killing it outright; if it was killed, it would risk a new Hive Mind arising. Granted, I'm simplifying things a bit, but I think you understand what I mean. --Haegemonia(talk) 22:15, October 1, 2010 (UTC)
I should have been more specific. What I had in mind is that the Hive Minds would be telepathically linked so there would always be one "leader" through a collective conscious. -- Reignfire 23:38, October 1, 2010 (UTC)
Ah, I see, you mean a single metaphysical entity existing across the entire synaptic system. Well, while I have also considered that idea, I decided against it given how the Marker affects the Necromorphs: If the entity was entirely metaphysical, then the Marker would basically kill it off as none of the Necromorphs would survive being cut off from said being, including the Hive Mind (the creature, not the entity) itself (given in this case, the Hive Mind would serve as little more than a "hub" for the Necromorphs' consciousness). Since the Hive Mind does not die, however, this suggests to me that, while I agree all the Necromorphs share the same consciousness, that consciousness is based in a single entity rather then acting as some ethereal controller. --Haegemonia(talk) 00:05, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
Actually you could support the idea of a collective consciousness if the Red Marker doesn't cut off, but overpowers the consciousness (with help from the pedestal to amplify its own telepathic powers) essentially putting it to sleep. However, it questionable if basic Necromorphs are part of the consciousness or just controlled by it. -- Reignfire 01:34, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

But therein lies the problem: If the collective consciousness is put to sleep, then all the Necromorphs die (including the Hive Mind). Thus, the entity dies and/or is rendered powerless as A)If the consciousness is naught but the collective synapses of the individual Necromorphs, and all the Necromorphs are dead, it dies or B)If the Hive Mind exists as a separate entity, simply extending control over the Necromorphs (which means it is not technically a Hive Mind), then it would have nothing to control when it work up again as it would no longer have any Necromorphs to affect (creating a whole mess of new plot holes).

Basically the logic boils down to if we know the Marker cuts off the signal emanating from the Hive Mind and puts it in a dormant state, and we know that any Necromorph not connected to the Hive Mind dies, then the only way the Hive Mind (the creature) could survive the whole process of the Marker being returned to the pedestal is if it wasn't just being controlled by a signal, but was in fact the host form of the Hive Mind (the entity). While more drawn-out conclusions can be made, Occam's Razor dictates that this conclusion is the most probable as it makes absolutely no assumptions; now, I'm not saying your conclusion is invalid or anything, I'm just going by probabilities.

Once again, not trying to invalidate your ideas, I'm just trying to explain my basis of logic. --Haegemonia(talk) 02:20, October 2, 2010 (UTC)

Don't worry about it, to be honest I'm just kind of making up this theory as I go, but I do understand what you're saying. Really, it comes down to not knowing enough of how any of it works. However, I just remembered Martyr sheds some light on the Markers, assuming they act the same. In the book, someone infects themself and then told by a hallucination to get in the Black Marker's "dead space" field. This actually stops the infection which would imply that the Marker halts it at the molecular/genetic level and has nothing to do with its telepathic ability. If that's the case, then the Red Marker may just put Necromorphs in a dormant state until it's removed from the pedestal. Anyway, we're getting off topic. -- Reignfire 04:41, October 2, 2010 (UTC)
This is turning out to be one of the most intelligent topic conversations for a while.
Now, back on topic, we pretty much know that the Ishimura is docked at the Sprawl. (I'd imagine Salvage will fill in that hole, along with Ignition.) What we don't know is how the Necromorphs are functioning. Hive Mind, animal instinct, desire for cookies? I don't know. I also know the Corruption probabley isn't going to spawn a new Hive Mind. Remember, it's a 'Habitat Changer', as identified by Kendra. Unless the Hive Mind is a big organic hive made out of the Corruption, and is holding onto several 'Leader/Queen' class necromorphs in the sacks and eyes on the Corruption hive. If I'm not making any sense, I'll try to clarify.
Imagine a sea anemone, like the one from Finding Nemo, (I know it's a bad example...) Now, the anemone is a living structure for fish. Now imagine the Hive Mind as the anemone, except it's consiousness is governed by seperate Necromorphs in the creatures sacks. Like the anemone, the Hive Mind will protect its inhabitants and itself. The Hive Mind would just do this on a much larger and agressive scale than the anemone.
I believe that's all I wished to share for now. Keep Dismembering! Tazio1 02:52, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
I think I'll say that the Hive Mind was the boss behind the Necromoprhs, ordering them what to do, but I dont think that the Necromorphs are completely reliant on the Hive Mind. Kinda like a worker bee, its a soldier that takes orders, but can also make its own decisions. (CrackShot 19:26, October 4, 2010 (UTC))

BETA necromorphs talking? Edit

I've just had a look at some of the DS2 BETA videos, and some of the necromorph gameplay had something talking when a character respawned, like the commentator characters in Gears of War multiplayer. I did mention this on the Necromorphs page on talk, and put a source in the page, but it was removed. I'm not sure why, but I can accept it was porbably inappropriate. I can't understand what they said at the end, probably "They've lost" Necromorph-X 15:56, December 8, 2010 (UTC)

DS2 achievements and trophies Edit

I don't know if anyone else watched it, but the small facebook video, 'Questions with Steve' had one interesting question about if playing Multiplayer is crutial to the story, and Steve Papoutsis let slip that DS2 will have all its achievements and trophies attributed only to the sigle player game, not to multiplayer, giving fans 100% completion even if they don't want to go online. Any comments? Tazio1 10:35, November 21, 2010 (UTC)

Good. I hate Trophies for Multiplayer, they're not very good. I may be able to get them, but it's not cruicial to the story and what about underage people, or people who cannot get a PSN account? Good ol' Dead Space didn't go wrong here. Necromorph-X 15:59, December 8, 2010 (UTC)

Replica Plasma Cutter X-Box 360 exclusive? Edit

Now, I'm kind of new to editing things so forgive me if I go wrong somewhere.

I've got a little problem, in that teh dead Space 2 article states that the Plasma Cutter replica item is for the X-box 360 only. Now, I know perfectly well that it definitly is not for the PS3, and I know there's a lot of ambiguity sorrounding the PC port of this game, but the site I pre-ordered my PC copy from definitly listed the replica plasma cutter as part of the package.

Several reviews have already listed Dead Space 2 as not even coming to the PC, and I know (much to my heart's breaking) that the demo isn't coming out for the PC, but could one of you regs clear this up for me - is this a misprint in either the article or the pre-ordering page? Many thanks, Lintire 07:52, December 21, 2010 (UTC)

Well, to try and help, I do know that the PC version is definately confirmed, however, I have no idea at all about any collectors edition package with the game. Your best bet would to confirm anything you don't know with your retailer, who would have the most information. It also depends on which region you'r in, I think.

Checked with a few different ones, just to be sure. The replica is definitly coming to all the PC Collector's Edition (which definitly exists, too). Seriously, the area around the whole PC edition is deifnitly caliginous. Looking forward to it, all the same. Lintire 06:07, December 22, 2010 (UTC)

Changes to the Wikia? Edit

If anyone bothered to see the new death animations they would know that the zealot slasher has it's own mutilate Isaac animation. Should I add it to the slasher page or wait to see if they change it in the game. And no I'm not some wanderer I'm just too lazy to sign on.

Visceral wouldn't be able to change it as the game has already been finalised (it's coming out in a month). Add them in. :) - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 16:53, December 23, 2010 (UTC)
Went through the demo again and noticed a few other things. I'll take this as your permission to add them if they have not already. And now that I have your attention where would one post that melee punches can now be aimed up and down?
Might start creating Melee article, which should cover all of the melee animations in Dead Space and Dead Space 2 :)- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 17:33, December 23, 2010 (UTC)

Hacker RIG... in Dead Space 2 Demo? Edit

I find it hard to believe, but somebody told me the Hacker RIG is avalible in the Demo. This is a lie, right? Necromorph-X (talk) (blog) 00:14, December 29, 2010 (UTC)

HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!?!?!?!?!? The only thing you can purchase in the demo is the Advanced RIG.........Right? DS2117 00:19, December 29, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe since its the Hacker RIG you have to hack to get it in the demo.Sniperteam82308 00:33, December 29, 2010 (UTC)

Everyone the Hacker RIG is only unlocked when you beat Dead Space: Ignition and can't be added to use until Dead Space: 2 comes out. Kelleygarret 08:59, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Plausibility of Extraction characters in DS2 Edit

Just a heads up for people wondering - I may have come across the supposed source of the belief Lexine Murdoch is in Dead Space 2. In the EA TGS 2010 Press Conference video, during EA's self-promotion sequence, right around the timing of the word "Imagination", immediately following footage of Dead Space 2, is a few seconds of footage from Extraction, featuring a snippet of the scene where Lexine reacts to Nicole's outgoing video. As it occurs right after Dead Space 2 footage, it was likely mistakenly assumed it was also Dead Space 2 footage - if you pay attention though, it's unmistakeably just footage from Extraction.

The video in question for referrence. The instance occurs around 31 seconds.

Apologies for the annonymous post. Just figured someone might like to trace the apparent genesis of the misconception.—This unsigned comment was made by (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

Looks like it's true then; Lexine is in DS2. :O - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 20:06, January 1, 2011 (UTC)
I take that back. It's simply Dead Space Extraction on the PS3 and its Move system (look around 21:00-22:00). Lexine won't be appearing in DS2 afterall. Oh well. :P - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 20:11, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

Franco in Dead Space 2 Edit

In the 4 minute trailer, near the end of the trailer, there is a 1 second long clip of a man with a flashlight investigating an unconsious, recently released Issac. Due the fact the only person who was present when Issac was release was Franco, and because the man strongly resembles Franco, i beleive it is him. I dont know how to upload images, so you may need to watch the trailer yourself.

P.S. The trailer also plays at the start of the DS2 demo. Disscus. :D 15:22, January 4, 2011 (UTC)

Dead Space 2 ending? (possible spoilers) Edit

In the DS2 secret achievements list, one of them is is awarded when you "destroy the Marker". Could this be the ending to DS2? Also, one of them mentions the Ishimura and a shard, whatever that means. My theory is that near the end, Isaac finds out that the marker (or a different marker) was on the Ishimura, and he has to board the forsaken ship one last time to destroy it and the marker.

Not sure if we should have this here also please sign your posts and would you mind giving a source. I'd say the shard is a shard of the red marker.Sniperteam82308 02:47, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Tralier observations(any DS2 trailer) and wherever you notice symbol writings- Edit

Okay, I noticed a few things from the trailers, like what those unitology writings say, which btw, I LUV to translate and repeat. A list so far:

Dimentia Trailer:

Translations: "DONT YOU DARE QUESTION THE MEANING OF THE MARKER BELIEVE OR DIE! BELIEVE OR DIE!" ////// "I WANT TO DIE(repeated at leas three times)"/////// "FOLLOW ME"///////"JOIN ME IN ETERNAL UNITY"///////"CONVERGE(showm 2 times I believe)"

Some writings were backwards btw, and there was ink in the way so I could not read them, however I will piece whatever I saw:

"KEY" was a word alone.

Lullaby trailer:

I noticed those two survivors seem to be in a room that the player might allow to enter, though the developers might have been using pan cam or something. They may spot you and be running away from you, terrified and not sure who you are. /// I also noticed that in the scene with the pre school classroom, there are paper cut outs (paper mishays are they called?), the blue papers with the black marker symbol. I think they worship it there.

In the subway, when isaac is walking past those ads, they stutter and display Nicole's face, as well as a few Uni- symbols(really letters, not a representation of something): If paused at the right time, you will see on the right ad screen on it's top left: the letter "D". On the lft screen at the bottom under the scribbles is the letter "J" (DJ? lol), as well as "C" and "A", not forgetting "H".

Emergency trailer:

When Isaac sweeps his plasma cutter across the room with writing, they are really repeats of the graffiti from DS(1). Example,"UNITY IS FOREVER"///// "MAKE US WHOLE"///// KEEP US FOREVER"

Also the dead man with the lower portion of skin and nose torn off has the same model as in the first Dead Space. He is seen when Isaac is walking into a dark room with a dim shutter above. The candles littering the floor return, as they seem to be in the far corner of the room, to the left. the orange symbols translate to "THE CRACKS ARE SHOWING", as well as "THE SPRAWL"

  • There is an ad that says" creating jobs" while presenting a worker wearing a hard hat.

When Isaac, distressed, sits down, the console says "gunship launch". This may hint something to that ship that we have seen Isaac being ambushed by. Also I will assume that the tram/train Isaac rides on gradually picks up speed and is soon setting the railings ablaze. Seeing Isaac sliding, the tram may have been derailed and is hanging over an edge. The brute may have been the cause, or maybe just caught up to/found Isaac.

Afterwards, the train falls and nearly kills Isaac.

My favorite trailer, next to the dimentia trailer, the "Extended" Excavations trailer:

I might need some help, there is ALOT in this one. I'm going to type of the things I noticed/observed mostly about the symbols and Isaac. Anyone else can talk sbou the beggining half or other observations:

  • There is a miner wearing a RIG that has large visor that glows a vibrant green, I'm not quite sure if that is usable.. During the same scene I observed a red light/glow around the right side of the marker, origin of said lighting unknown. I think he/she was on the planet itself, or the chunk extracted, but there seems to have been a sandstorm present.

When the red marker is seen through a doorway, if paused at the right moment, some Uni-symbols seem to be jumbled together, as I am not able to decipher what those particular glyphs. I noticed the sentence, upside down, translates to "ARE COMING" possibly the sentence "THEY ARE COMING".

I think after Warren Eckhardt is shown briefly, the same miner, while holding his/her her head and freaking out, mini uni-symbols are spread out evenly, and an image of another miner is seen behind him/her.

  • When Isaac is shown closing down the dissapointing/sad message by Nicole, he is wearing the level 1 mining RIG.
  • Nicole is seen walking sround the corner of the marker.I'm not sure I remember her doing that though..

(My favorite scene, as I am interested in his Dimentia, and am curious of what else he writes and draws about :)) What seems to be Dead Space 2 gameplay, Isaac is briefly seen walking toward the exit of his cell. For an unkown reason, his healthbar reads in the yellow region, possibly to make him wobble, indicating his un/instability. I'm not quite sure as to how he has a RIG health meter attached to his straight jacket.

  • His cell has uni symbols all over the walls, though they were too small, the room was too dark, and the player didn't pan enough for me to make out words.

This may explain as to how he found his first RIG. I assume you walk through a hall of sorts and find your first RIG in a room, or take it off a dead man, or at the first store. I'm not sure as to how he is going to be freed of that jacket, though it looks as if some of the straps are coming loose.

Another scene shows Isaac being bothered by halucinations to the point of possibly feeling massive head pains. Nicole is seen in a red haze as sitting on a bench of sorts. The teitching cryo- corpses from the demo are seen. They are all copies oof the same body I do believe.

A room presents another version of the Black marker, a possible round room with glass windows all around, the Black marker with a red circular glyph at it's base. Dagoth11 21:28, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

Nice observations. My feedback wouldn't be much help as my conscious mind forces me to derail the topic. All I have to say is, nice observations. :P - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 22:57, January 5, 2011 (UTC)
Ha ha thanks. Bad and good feedback, I welcome :) Dagoth11 23:10, January 5, 2011 (UTC)

First 15 Minutes Edit Enjoy! More new gameplay.

15 Chapters Edit

In the Gameinformer preview of DS2, it mentions that it has 15 chapters. Should this be added? Neonwarrior 04:46, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

I would suggest hold off the information for now. Wouldn't want to have legal papers filed in. Let's be patient fans. :) - 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 15:30, January 19, 2011 (UTC)

Difficulty Modes Edit

Here are the difficulty modes for DS2:

  • Casual
  • Normal
  • Veteran
  • Zealot
  • Hard Core (once game is beaten)

Kcdude500 00:04, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

So, all difficulties have been renamed by the looks of it.- 5əb'7aŋk(7alk) 00:09, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

Basically, and the last mode is also said to be alot harder than the original impossible mode. See here: Kcdude500 00:10, January 22, 2011 (UTC)

That QA series really is useful. Although 3 Saves in the entire game sounds more like a headache then a real challenge, considering how easy it is to die. Lintire 04:36, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

Locked? Edit

aw i cant add anything, and i was just about to add all the multiplayer maps...

Because you are new. It was a way to prevent vandalism. Besides that is leaked material. None of that.Template:Sniperteam82308 20:13, January 23, 2011 (UTC)

This was announced today:

EA has announced Dead Space 2: Severed, a "digital download pack" that extends the Dead Space 2 story with two standalone chapters in the single-player game.
It sees the return of Gabe Weller and Lexine Murdock, the two main characters from 2009 prequel Dead Space: Extraction. The Dead Space 2 Limited Edition for PS3 includes Dead Space: Extraction, which supports the Move controller.
Weller and Lexine's story runs parallel to Isaac's in Dead Space 2. Players assume the role of Gabe Weller, who as a Sprawl Security Guard fights against Necromorphs.
Dead Space 2: Severed is "coming soon", while pricing is yet to be announced. Dead Space 2 launches in Europe this Friday, and Eurogamer's review will publish at 5pm UK time.
Meanwhile, EA has this afternoon reminded gamers that Dead Space 2 includes a one-time-use Online Pass registration code that grants access to all of the online features in the game.
Players who do not have a code can purchase the Dead Space 2 Online Pass for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live Marketplace and $9.99 on the PlayStation Network.

Horror level? Edit

I don't know about any of you, but personally, the scariest part for me was...

Wait for it...

Wait for it...

I wasin the apartment area, standing next to a table, and an alarm clock went off in-game. Swear on my life, scariest part of the whole game. Scarier than Nicole in the elevator in Chapter 1, when she starts singing. Yeah, I went there. Was it because I've played through the first game almost 2 times? Is it because the developers failed to make it scary enough? Is it because alarm clocks are frickin' annoying? Probably a combination of all three. Suck.

Let's keep the talk page for actually discussing how to improve the article, hm? SteveZombie 12:40, January 30, 2011 (UTC)

There are more secret unitology messages in the main menu and other menus.

ONE PLAYER Menu: "Your body now, our body later, one body forever".

CONTROLS Menu: "Let us fear nothing. Death is only a transition to the unity beyond".

And that one is the most revealing one:

Inside "MULTIPLAYER" Menu, you can see another menu called "SCORES" or something like this. There is a message wich translated means:

The Chicxulub Crater exists in the Earth and also appeared in the Dead Space novel Martyr.

Could this mean that Dead Space 3 will take place in Earth?!

Loeb123 12:38, January 30, 2011 (UTC)Loeb123

God, I hope not. If it does, that means huge urban areas. Huge urban areas mean plenty of Necromorphs and litttle manuverability. No matter how overpowered the DLC that I will inevitably buy is, I see alot of dismembered Isaac corpses in the future... Captain tweed 01:00, January 31, 2011 (UTC)

Maybe it's just referring to the book, not necessarily the locale of the third installment. That's just my opinion. I also think it could be hinting that the Black Marker will finally come into play in this next installment-maybe as a means to finally destroy the necromorph lifeforms once and for all-that's my theory at least. SoulSurvivor17 03:52, February 2, 2011 (UTC)

I dont see Dead Space 3 taking place on Earth. They'd have to remove too many things - no vaccum, no Zero G, they'd have to remove the decompression and "flight" mechanics they just added in 2 ... it wouldn't really work. I find the idea of the original Black Marker coming into play more plausible. Iudicium 03:27, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

I can see a section of Dead Space 3 taking place on Earth, but not the whole game, maybe just a couple of chapters. After all, when you take Shockpoint Drives into account, the Sprawl (Titan) is only about thirty minutes away from Earth, assuming flight isn't as controlled as it is today (which it probably is), so there's reason to beilieve that the Franchise is slowly gravitating towards Earth. Plus, I'd imagine Isaac would want some R&R after taking on EarthGov, destroying another Marker and SPOILERS SPOILERS AAHHH THERE'S SO MANY SPOILERS killing a psychotic manifestation of his own ex-undead-girlfriend, so what better place to go than a holiday resort of some kind? Just kicking back, dismemberin', relaxin' all cool and shooting some Zero G B-Ball outside the school? Captain tweed 15:49, February 9, 2011 (UTC)

I HIGHLYYYY doubt this, a large portion of the Martyr took place in a lab out in the sea that Chicxulub faces. If they were to pull this off, it'd most likely take place where the VERY FIRST Necromorph outbreak took place, aboard the undersea lab off the Chicxulub coast, which if done right could be just as thrilling as Dead Space 1 & 2's setting. Maybe even consisting of portions of the game taking place underwater or abord the minisubmarine featured in the novel. 14:02, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

Chapter Names?Edit

I'm curious, what is the source for the current chapters' titles?

Not even the Prima guide has a title for each chapter, or if one considers the blue colored titles at the begining of each chapter walkthrough as the actual chapter title, they are different from what we have used.

Should I rename them according to the Prima guide? -- MitchK *talk* 05:13, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

I'd say so. Those are confirmed. The colored ones are only presumed.Template:Sniperteam82308 05:18, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

What do you mean 'the colored ones are only presumed' ? What colored ones? If I change the titles, I'll change them on all chapters, since they are all different from the Prima's titles. --MitchK *talk* 05:21, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

The blue colored titles you spoke of!Template:Sniperteam82308 05:30, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

Hi, can someone tell me where I have to redeem the online pass code. I can't seem to find the website. Thank you. Son of Icthar 11:47, February 3, 2011 (UTC)

Dead Space 2: SeveredEdit

Well, I was wondering, fellow Dead Space fans, should there be a Page for Severed? It's been announced, theres screenshots. I believe the Bioshock wiki has a page about the DLC Minerva's Den.

Just wondering, and thanks for reading. Necromorph-X (talk) (blog) 11:35, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Definitly once it's released - two chapters is quite a bit of playthrough, and it'll definitly have much more content then what can be para-phrased simply on the main page. However, for now, other then a breif summary of what it's going to be about and a few screens, there's nothing to say about it. I say wait, but do so. Lintire 11:47, February 5, 2011 (UTC)

Dead Space 2 glitch Edit

Ok when Franco first turns into a necromorph, I ran back into the room and ran around his necro version for a few seconds. When i finally ran away to where the necro in the wheel chair atttacks me, the screen when black except with Isaac standing at the bottom of the screen. The A button was flashing on his back, but I still could control Isaac, making his continuously run in the dark screen. Load Fail or glitch? (Teh CrackShot 15:45, February 18, 2011 (UTC))

How did you put this transparent background?

Im a bit confused Edit

Im confused about Dead Space 2's storyline. I thought the marker's dead space was used to put the Necromorphs in hibernation. Why is Isaac trying to destroy it when it can stop the outbreak? Why is the site 12 marker atracting the Necromorphs? {{SUBST:User:Noname the hero/Signature}} 08:08, March 16, 2011 (UTC)

Aegis 7:
  • Not enough bodies for convergence, store them for future.
  • Fully formed hive-mind might also be a problem for the Marker.
  • Isaac is not the maker. In fact I don't think there were any makers left at all since they were successful in stopping the outbreak.
Site 12:
  • Enough bodies for convergence.
  • No proper hive-mind.
  • Isaac, Stross and other four patients are the makers.
Destroying the Marker destroys all Necromorphs.
Komodo Saurian [talk] 09:25, March 16, 2011 (UTC)
Isaac, in fact, did not mean to destroy the Aegis 7 marker, it was destroyed by means out of his control (hint: the tectonic load aboard the crashing ship that nuked part of Aegis 7. He was at first attempting to place it on the pedestal, but after battle with the Hive Mind the ship went derelict. And the sight 12 marker initiated convergence in order to create another Hive Mind (this is presumably, not totally sure). Isaac, following his hallucination of Nicole, stumbled into what turned out to be the Marker trying to absorb him to create the Hive Mind. Upon destroying her grasp of him, he escaped, and again he did not destroy the marker, but it was instead destroyed by the reactor aboard the ship upon his escape. 13:57, January 1, 2012 (UTC)

Uh... wiki for gameplay? Edit

Hi folks, I googled for a wiki for DS2 gameplay and this is the closest I could find. But I can't find discussions of tips and tricks at various points in the game, tables of weapon and suit upgrades, weapon discussions, etc.

What am I missing... shall I go ahead and get it started? Thanks -RedKnight7 01:32, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Look at the Walkthrough pages or for help fighting enemys look at the Strategies section typically found on the bottom of a page.Sniperteam82308 01:34, March 19, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks Sniper, I see a list of Necromorphs (although a problem here is, who knows what they're called? where's a gallery of them?). I see a list of Chapters in DS2, but the Chapters are not quite walkthroughs (with spoilers, discussions, etc.)... they are more like finely crafted pages. I cannot find the words "strategies", "walk", or "enemies" on the primary DS2 page, or anything like this on a few other pages I spot checked. I don't see a table of weapon modifications. Please advise further? Thanking you in advance -RedKnight7 02:44, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Mirrors Edit

Is it just me or do mirrors in Dead space 2 not work? I mean they don't show a reflection, they seem to show a scene beyond the glass, on that is quite dark and hard to see, but no reflection.—This unsigned comment was made by (talkcontribs). Please sign your posts with ~~~~!

I think it's a way to save up processing and memory space. Quite common during the development and stability phase. Halo 3, for example, was supposed to show reflection in the visors, but the developers decided that it uses too many memory space. — subtank (7alk) 13:55, May 6, 2011 (UTC)

Chapter Names- Trivia Edit

There is a piece of informtaion on the Trivia Section that states, "There is no hidden message in Dead Space 2's chapter names since the chapters themselves lack names." . The official guide has named the chapters already, so should I take this out or modify it? Supertologist 04:46, July 13, 2011 (UTC)

Well, I'm fairly certain that the Prima guide Chapter names aren't canon or whatever, so I don't think modification or deletion is necessary. It might be worth moving to somewhere else on the article, though I can't really see where to... Captain tweed 19:30, August 9, 2011 (UTC)

When I asked Papoutsis whether the chapter names in the guide are official, his response was "yep, it's in the official guide", so they probably are canon. Yet The chapters in-game are not titled, so I say we leave that, but maybe modify it as to mention the fact that the the chapters are only titled in the guide. Something like "The chapters of Dead Space 2 are not properly titled in-game; they are, however, in the game's official guide. These chapter titles do not bear a secret message, like those of the first Dead Space". Also, I believe that the term "chapter title" is more correct than, the one in use now, "chapter names". --Noemon *talk* 09:00, August 10, 2011 (UTC)
I agree. We should put it like that. Supertologist (talk) 16:18, August 10, 2011 (UTC)

Can you use the Stasis canister to stasis all the security before you shut off the power, if so is there anything worth getting behind them? Edit

I'm watching the DS2 gameplay before buying the game, and I was wondering about this. Cause the caister doesn't seem to have any other purpose that I can see, and I really wanna know if there's something valuable behind them Squattop 17:17, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

I am not really sure what you're asking but I would think so; stasis would affect everything in the game.— subtank (7alk) 19:15, November 23, 2011 (UTC)
He means the EarthGov security that you unleash Necromorphs on. He wants to know if you can use stasis on them and get behind them for something special.--Shade 20:29, November 23, 2011 (UTC)
Ah. Pretty sure the player is dead if so, as scripted by the game.— subtank (7alk) 22:10, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

Pirates in Dead Space Edit

In Dead Space: Extraction, the Pulse Rifle's description was to said to have been used for order control, and for warding away pirates. With the exclusion of the Magpies, can anyone shine light on the ideal that we might see pirates in future Dead Space lore? Now I have an original setting to plot out my fan-fic blog.-Ultimate1onskates- 20:28, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

It would be in the backstory, but I don't think it would be explored. It would make a nice fan-fic though, to tell the story of how pirates unleashed another Necromorph outbreak and live/die to tell the story...— subtank (7alk) 22:11, November 23, 2011 (UTC)

New Easter Egg? Edit

I found a new easter egg in Dead Space 2. At the very beginning in the room immediately after you escape the necromorphs there is an ECG machine flat lining and making a continous beep. After you free your arms if you return the machine now has a green screen and has resumed regular rhythm. I thought this might be worthy to add to the easter egg or trivia section on the main Dead Space 2 page. UK-Elite Beta G 18:16, March 20, 2012 (UTC)

Merging of Multiplayer section with the Multiplayer article and article stub Edit

I don't really think that everything below the first paragraph of the Multiplayer section is needed in this article. Just a paragraph, briefly describing it, is , I think, more appropriate for such a small game mode. Everything else can be merged with the Dead Space 2 Multiplayer article (which, by the way, needs a clean up). What do you think?

On another note, isn't it time to remove the section stub template, for the Single Player section? It puts the whole article in the stub category, as mentioned in the comments above. It's been two years; if it hasn't been expanded already, there is probably nothing left to add. --Noemon *talk* 17:46, June 25, 2012 (UTC)
