The Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter was a weapon that appeared in Dead Space 3. The weapon boasted increased damage and rate of fire over the standard Plasma Cutter, but had reduced reloading speed and magazine size. It also had all of it's circuit slots unlocked, allowing the players to place more circuits inside sooner without having to spend Tungsten.

The weapon was unlocked for the players who had a Dead Space 2 save and could first be equipped from the Safe via the Bench aboard the CMS Roanoke in "Chapter 3: The Roanoke".

Overview[]

Do you still have your Dead Space 2 save file? If you do, you are in luck. The people that played Dead Space 2 would unlock and receive the Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter upon reaching the first Bench in Dead Space 3.

The Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter had slightly better parameters then the starting one and had all 8 circuit slots unlocked from the beginning by giving you an ever so slight edge against the Necromorph terror.[1]

Design Details[]

The Planet Cracker Plasma Cutter was awarded to anyone with a Dead Space 2 game save. It shared the same design as the Plasma Cutter, although it was colored completely in steel gray. It came with a Compact Elite Frame.

Trivia[]

The parameters showed that the Planet Cracker Tip would actually penalize ammo per magazine from the Default Tip. Do not let it deceive you as it started with the same ammo capacity that the Default Tip did. Reload speed did not look to be penalized that much either. This made the Planet Cracker an overall upgrade for those who had a Dead Space 2 save file on their system. When fighting the Fodder Necromorph (The ones that wield duel axes), the Planet Cracker Tip prevents them from going into their second stage when you shoot their legs or arms off.

Bugs[]

When this weapon was taken apart, it was impossible to fully put it back together again as the Planet Cracker Tip could not be equipped in conjunction with a Rotator Cufflink. This problem could be avoided by making a custom blueprint first.

This was likely due to it being considered a DLC weapon.
