Two weeks before the Marker was pulled up, this man was perfectly healthy and mentally stable until out of nowhere he suddenly killed two members of his dig team in the colony down on the surface of the planet Aegis 7 in the Aegis System and was taken into custody along with any other colonists who had committed murder. As requested by Dr. Kyne, the nurse gave Hans 500cc's of sedative to keep him asleep, but the prisoner fought the dose, which in normality would be impossible. Leggio claimed that he had to kill because "'they' want our bodies and need us to turn." He also seemed to hear voices inside his head and asked the nurse if she heard them too. The nurse explained that sometimes the sedatives cause hallucinations, but Leggio continued to struggle to break free of his bonds.

The noises inside Mr. Leggio's head finally drove him to complete insanity as he managed to slip his hands out of the straps that were holding him down. He wanted the noises out of his head so much he began to bash himself in the temple with his own hand so hard that blood began to spray out. Dr. Kyne quickly jumped on him and held him down to ensure he didn't kill himself. Dr. Kyne asked for the nurse's help to restrain him as Leggio told Kyne to just kill him. Kyne took a sedative out of his pocket and injected it into Mr. Leggio's arm. As Hans' respiratory rate lowered, he finally fell asleep.

Later on during the Necromorph infestation, Leggio awakened, still in the med lab. He heard a strange growling noise outside and left to investigate. He followed a trail of blood into the morgue where he found the Infectors mutating the dead corpses of humans and turning them into Slashers. The Slashers saw Leggio and advanced. Leggio turned and began to run from them, trying to be as quiet as possible, but then was fatally stabbed by a Pregnant. As Leggio internally bled and blood began to come out of his nose, he was lifted up into the air by the Pregnant and tossed aside to later be turned into another mindless killing machine by an Infector.

Later, Chief Vincent and her team encountered the mutated Leggio, who was the first Necromorph they encountered. After a short fight, they eventually managed to take down Leggio but with one fatal casualty...the death of Dobbs.
