'History's Ember'is the fourth chapter of Dead Space 3.

PlotEdit

After finally finding Ellie and her team, Austin Buckell and Jennifer Santos, holed up in the command saucer of the Roanoke, It is revealed that Norton has been dating Ellie since Ellie and Isaac broke up, Isaac is visibly annoyed by this. Ellie tells Isaac that he is the only one capable of translating a Unitology script they found in the Admirals Quarters of the CMS Roanoke and that they must find out what it means to continue onto the next step. Isaac must find the Admirals Quarters and see the meaning of what the Admiral was trying to say.

SummaryEdit

This chapter will allow you to have a general free roam around the flotilla and try and find any weapon parts, artifacts and other goodies. The first proper side mission will be available where after recieving a signal transmission you are required to explore one of the ships of the fleet, called the CMS Greely. There is another side mission in the chapter where you must investigate transmissions recieved by John Carver at another ship, the CMS Brusilov, but this mission can only be completed while playing in co-op.

TriviaEdit

  • In the Admiral's quarters, right before the cutscene is triggered, there is a mounted buck on the wall. Shooting it will earn the player the achievement/trophy, "Under the Buck"
  • You encounter your first functional Suit Kiosk in this chapter, allowing you to change your suit. If you change your suit close out of the chapter before reaching a save point, you can resume the game and start at the point after finding Ellie and view the cutscene in the Admiral's quarters wearing a suit other than the EVA suit.
  • Admiral Graves' corpse cannot be controlled with Kinesis, due to the fact it is a piece of geometry in the cutscene (Isaac nearly trips over her body.), although it can be dismembered.

WalkthroughEdit

Here, you should Start off by looting the room you are in. There is another Weapon part here that you can add to your gun with the work bench. There is even an upgrade circuit hidden inside the tent area! Now call the elevator to move out. You are back in the generator room. Power everything back up to prompt attacks from the giant tentacles. Kill them off when they start attacking you. Watch your back, as you will be getting attacked by normal Necromorphs as well. Go all the way back down the ladder you climbed up not too long ago. Back out into the long zero-gravity tunnel. This time, the giant blades are now spinning. Use Stasis to slow them enough to get by. Climb back up the ladder, and out towards the Admiral's quarters. Open the door by accessing the panel next to it. Move the circles around until they are over the highlighted slots. Press A/X (depending on if you are playing on 360 or PS3) every time the circles are in the correct spots.Take the elevator up. There is a bit of a cutscene here, so after it is done go explore the rest of the room. There's a Text log, Audio log, and EarthGov Artifact among other things.

Now go back to the theater room, continuing on to the next hallway that is filled with plenty of Necromorphs. The room ahead has two doors, go to the one on the right. There is a Circuit in here as well as a Blueprint. Now go through the second door into the cargo bay. Talk to a few folks, and get new coordinates to head to. Go out the door by the bench. There's a suit upgrade station here, so upgrade the parts that you can afford. Now continue forward, and have a strange conversation.

Once that is done, go through the couple of doors ahead of you. This will take you out into space. Hold the right stick in to pull up the Locator to figure out where to go. Once at the SK1P transport ship's deck, land and then enter.


Important Note: The first of the Side Missions are available here. Instead of choosing to transport to the Terra Nova choose C.M.S Greely unless you want to skip this (but you don't, do you ?).

After the Greely side mission, choose to go to the Terra Nova. Enter the ship once you land.
